Join OSA for Congressional Visits Day

OSA and its National Photonics Initiative (NPI) partners are participating in the annual Congressional Visits Day (CVD) taking place in Washington, D.C. on 17 – 18 March 2015. With so many new members of Congress, this is a great opportunity to establish a relationship with your Congressional offices and to educate your members of Congress on the importance of optics and photonics.

OSA will be participating in this annual event to talk about the importance of R&D funding, the NPI and discuss other relevant legislation such as the America COMPETES Act. Training will occur on 17 March with a reception that evening on Capitol Hill. On 18 March, visits to your Congressional representatives will occur.

Register for the 2015 OSA-CIAN Workshop: Photonics in Dis-Aggregated Data Centers

OSA Industry Development Associates (OIDA) is once again hosting a workshop at OFC on the role of optics in data centers, this year focusing on the role of optics in dis-aggregated data centers. A “dis-aggregated” data center allows the architect to pool the processing, memory, storage and networking into separate racks or rows, using them more efficiently for certain tasks. This will be the fifth in a series done in partnership with CIAN, the NSF center managed out of the University of Arizona.

The workshop will be held 22 March in Lost Angeles, collocated with OFC. Special savings are available through 23 February.
