The 2017 Siegman School Program Book
This week long program hosted in 2017 by Centro de Investigaciones en Optica (CIO), co-founded by the OSA Foundation and IPG Photonics, provides up to 100 graduate students from around the world the opportunity to advance their education, foster future collaboration, and promote research and engineering for the optical community.

Personal Statement:1 page, to include motivation for attending, research interests and any achievements to date.

Student Advisor’s Letter of Recommendation: Letter should explicitly address how the school will benefit the applicant’s research and professional development as well as how they will add to the week long experience. Letter must be submitted at the time of the application.
Application Review Process:
All applications will be reviewed by the Program Committee and students will be notified of acceptance in early May 2017.
Registration: $900(USD due at time of registration following acceptance)
Registration includes all meals and accommodations from Sunday, 6 August – Saturday, 11 August and all meeting publications. Fee is due at the time of registration.
Travel: Students are responsible for their own travel to and from the school. The host institution will provide Visa letters for those requesting or requiring documents for travel.
Other Funding Sources to Consider: Grant funds are limited and students should research all potential funding support such as their university, department, or government for alternative funding opportunities.
The school begins on Sunday, 6 August with an Opening Evening Reception for all participants including students and school faculty. Sessions will include lectures from several renowned speakers, presentations from local industry leaders and engineers, a student poster session and ample time for networking among participants and school faculty. Check back often for additional details as they are confirmed.
