Photonics and Opto-Electronics

Integrated Photonics

This group focuses on exploring new material platforms, novel nanofabrication techniques, integrated optical components, and the development of large-scale photonic circuits with advanced functionalities for applications including optical communications, optical computing, and quantum information.

Integrated Photonics (PI)

The field of integrated optics is rapidly advancing due to the recent development in semiconductor and dielectric manufacturing, which has enabled the miniaturization of both optical and optoelectronic devices. This group aims at explorations of new material platforms, novel nanofabrication techniques, integrated optical components and the development of large-scale photonic circuits with advanced functionalities for applications that include optical communications, spectroscopy, laser ranging, optical computing and quantum information. This group also provides content (e.g. panel discussions, webinars and social media) on current research trends in areas such as optical frequency combs, topological photonics, quantum photonics and microwave photonics. One of the most important goals of this group is to encourage and stimulate interactions between academic research and industry research and development on integrated photonics, enabling innovation and fostering technology and product development.
