The Photonics and Opto-Electronics Technical Division encompasses the development of many of the devices used by the optics community. It oversees the development of new device technologies such as sources and detectors as components, active elements such as modulators/switches, integration of optical components to perform various functions and the development of active optical system/subsystem technologies. Explore the technical groups within this division, each of which offers their members access to innovative events, focused networking opportunities and engaging webinars.
This group focuses on developments relating to new fiber types and their applications. Of interest are fibers fabricated in a variety of materials and structures, designed to benefit a range of application fields, including sensing, lasers, supercontinuum generation and quantum computing.
