About the Speaker
Peter Winzer is the CTO of Nubis Communications. Before founding Nubis in 2020, he led Bell Labs’ fiber-optic transmission research, setting multiple high-speed optical transmission records and contributing to optical communications product developments and field trials. He has published over 500 scientific papers and holds over 100 granted patents. He is a Fellow of Bell Labs, the IEEE, Optica, and the US National Academy of Inventors, and a Member of the US National Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the John Tyndall Award and holds an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Eindhoven. Peter has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Lightwave Technology, as Program Chair of ECOC, and Program/General Chair of OFC. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria.
