About the Speaker
A 28-year veteran of PLX, Itai has been responsible for the introduction of such PLX innovations as upgrading Telescope Alignment in space, modernized Boresighting military technology, state-of-the-art interferometers, and Monolithic Optical Structure Technology TM (M.O.S.T.). Itai holds 34 optical patents, and has authored numerous technical papers.
Itai's journey in the field of opto-mechanical engineering began at Technion I.I.T. in Israel, where he earned his degree. He then honed his skills at Duma Optronics, where he directed the design and development of highly accurate laser technologies, laying the foundation for his future work at PLX.
Upon joining PLX in 1996, Itai modernized the company’s production and quality control departments which helped PLX win supplier awards from several of the world’s leading defense contractors, including the 2008 U.S. Small Business Administration Region II Small Business of the Year award.
In January 2021, Itai led the acquisition of Reflex Imaging, expanding PLX's capabilities in optical assemblies into active optics, and furthering PLX's ability to solve complex electro-opto-mechanical challenges.
Over the past three decades, Itai has transitioned PLX from its roots as a components manufacturer to a solutions provider for the defense, space, and commercial industries is a major factor in PLX's growth.
In May 2024, PLX was acquired by Luxium Solutions, which has over four hundred employees, multiple facilities in the US, France, and India, and sales offices in China and Japan.
Itai resides in Setauket, N.Y. He and his wife, Sagit, have three children and a dog, Heiko.
