Photonic Integration for Communications at III-V Lab
About the Speaker
David Bitauld is currently with III-V Labs (Nokia Bell Labs) leading the Advanced Photonic Integration Research department, which is developing a wide range of photonic components and circuits on InP and III-V on Silicon hetero-integrated platforms. David holds a master’s degree in Physics from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Rennes (INSA Rennes) and Université de Rennes I. He completed his PhD in optics in Telecom Paris in 2005 (diploma from Paris XI). Then he went on to work as a postdoctoral fellow on superconducting single photon detectors at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and then at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). In 2009 he moved to the Tyndall Institute in Cork to carry out research on spectrally engineered laser diodes. In 2011, David joined the Nokia Research Center in Cambridge to develop the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) activity. In 2018 he integrated Nokia Bell Labs in Cambridge to work on photonics sensing applications and in 2019 transferred to the III-V Lab in Paris-Saclay to lead the III-V on Silicon Heterointegration activity and then the broader advanced photonic integration research.
