Speaker
Dan Deptuck, Staff Scientist, Optoelectronics Engineering, CMC Microsystems
Dan Deptuck holds the position of Staff Scientist, Optoelectronics Engineering at CMC Microsystems, where he leads the seven-member photonics group in the development and delivery of infrastructure and services to support research involving the design, fabrication and testing of photonic & optoelectronic device and microsystem prototypes. The role of the photonics group includes the training of graduate students and other clients in the area of silicon photonics, and helping them prepare designs for fabrication. Dan’s experience with silicon photonics includes managing the development of design kits at CMC, and the verification, merging and submission of numerous CMC client designs for fabrication through various silicon foundries (600+ designs since 2008). Dan has a BSc. in physics (Queen's 1987), and a Ph.D. in physics (Princeton 1994). He has been employed by CMC since 2000 and prior to that worked for Queen's University where he taught physics and conducted research in low temperature condensed matter physics and particle physics.
