Synopsys Solutions to Design and Simulate Metalenses

Metalenses are emerging as viable alternatives to traditional flat optics for use in industrial and scientific applications. With their ability to focus light at subwavelengths, metalenses can be ideal for applications that require miniaturized optics, such as cell phone cameras, CMOS imaging sensors, spectrometers, and augmented reality systems. Join this session to learn more about metalens technology and how Synopsys Optical Solutions provide a complete design flow to simulate and optimize metalenses.

Chenglin Xu, Product Manager, RSoft Photonic Device ToolsSynopsys

Chenglin Xu is the product manager of RSoft Photonic Device Tools at Synopsys, Inc. He received BS and MS degrees in optical engineering from Tianjin University, China, and a PhD degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Before joining RSoft -- now a part of Synopsys -- he was an optical design engineer at JDS Fitel in Ottawa, Canada, the chief scientist and co-founder of Apollo Photonics Inc., and a professor at Shandong University in China. Dr. Xu is the co-inventor of vector BPM and has published more than 60 journal and conference papers. His research has focused on photonic device simulation software in various fields, including photonic integrated circuits, micro-LEDs, AR/VR systems, metamaterials, and LiDAR. Dr. Xu is a member of IEEE and SPIE.
