Optica is looking for a Manager, Events Marketing.
The Optica Events Marketing team is responsible for comprehensive promotional campaigns that support events and exhibit sales. The Manager, Events Marketing, builds and implements promotional campaigns to increase paper submissions and drive registration for assigned meetings and conferences.
The position provides strategic and tactical promotional campaign support to ensure organizational key results in meeting attendance and revenue are met. It relies heavily on sustaining strong relationships between the meetings and marketing team, other Optica teams and relevant volunteers.
Primary Responsibilities
Optica Events Marketing
- In collaboration with the Director of Events Marketing, develops and implements promotional plans to achieve key performance metrics for a select portfolio of Optica events (meetings and conferences).
- Develops and manages content calendars and production schedules to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensures Optica events are communicated effectively through supplemental channels such as newsletters and calendar listings.
Website, Social and Digital Media
- Manages digital and multimedia marketing efforts for both paid and organic digital and social media campaigns across multiple channels, including OFC, FiO and Optica LinkedIn groups. Develops and implements an editorial calendar, sourcing content and graphics/media to increase overall engagement.
- Serves as team liaison with the Optica Media Relations team to coordinate and place events on other Optica social media channels.
- Assumes quality assurance responsibilities for events website content, ensuring accuracy and relevancy, consistency and adherence to brand and style guidelines.
- Ensures Optica Events are effectively communicated and cross-promoted.
Direct Marketing
- Project manages a high-volume of direct marketing efforts comprised of print and email tactics. This effort requires significant time spent collecting/synthesizing program content from multiple subject matter experts, copywriting, facilitating review/approvals and design and production.
- Handles production of collateral pieces, including design, print and mail.
- Manages the fulfillment of annual graphics requirements to support Optica events, corporate membership and industry engagement programs—specifically, maintaining an inventory of graphics needs, sourcing relevant email images to support events and committee/speaker headshots and working with graphic designers on fulfillment.
- Administers the fulfillment of trade agreement deliverables to ensure Optica Events are promoted effectively throughout industry media websites and publications.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing preferred
- Minimum 7+ years of professional expertise in all aspects of campaign marketing
- Experience promoting events, meetings, conferences/conventions; both in-person and virtual events
- Experience marketing international events, meetings and conferences is a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of best practices in direct marketing, digital marketing and prospect/lead generation
- Experience writing promotional emails, website copy, social media content and digital retargeting banners
Skills and Abilities
- Highly effective team player with accomplished oral communication and presentation skills. Must have the ability to articulate and promote marketing strategies and campaigns in a persuasive way.
- Excellent written communication skills (including careful proofreading and copyediting); must have the ability to translate technical source material into compelling promotional copy
- Strong project management skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
- Knowledge and skills to build a holistic marketing campaign and ability to demonstrate expertise in all phases of the campaign; experience producing multi-format marketing collateral (digital, print and multimedia) and managing prospect lists
- Experience with digital marketing (SEO, banner ads, web content, content/inbound marketing and Google AdWords)
- Ability to successfully manage relationships with external vendors
TECHNOLOGIES:
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite applications and Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets)
- Comprehensive understanding of website content management platforms. Kentico a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of all facets of email production and email marketing platforms, experience with HTML and the iPost platform a plus
- Experience with Figma a plus
