Marvin Minsky attended Harvard, and earned his Ph.D. in math from Princeton University. He joined MIT in 1958 and, in 1959, co-founded the M.I.T. Artificial Intelligence Project (later the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) with his colleague John McCarthy. Throughout his pioneering career, he received numerous awards, including the Turing Award, Killian Award, Japan Prize, Joseph Priestly Award, Rank Prize, Computer Pioneer Award from IEEE, OSA’s R.W. Wood Prize, and the Benjamin Franklin Medal.

Minsky passed away in 2016.
