Joseph E. Geusic
Joseph E Geusic earned his B.S. from Lehigh University in 1953, M.S. from Ohio State University in 1955, and Ph.D. in 1958. That year, he joined AT&T Bell Laboratories in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. During his 37 years at AT&T Bell Labos, Geusic published more than 62 scientific papers and held 27 patents. Retiring in 1994, Geusic joined Micron where he worked in their Advanced Research Institute. He is responsible for an estimated 200 patents while consulting there. He retired from Micron in 2005 after 10 years of service. In 1993, he received OSA’s R. W. Wood Prize “for the discovery of the Nd:YAG laser and the demonstration of its usefulness as a practical solid state laser source.
He passed away in 2014.
