Daniel Jacob Ehrlich
Daniel Jacob Ehrlich earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Rochester, USA, in 1973 and 1977 respectively. In 1997 after completing his PhD, Ehrlich joined MIT’s Lincoln Lab as a staff member in the Quantum Electronics Group. Working his way up through different groups there, he became a member of Senior Staff in the Solid State Division in 1989. While in this position, he founded and served as President of Revise Inc. Throughout the mid-1990s and into the 2000s, Ehrlich was a visiting scientist at MIT’s Center for Biological Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Whitehead Institute/MIT. Since 2009, he has been a research professor at Boston University.
He was elected a Fellow of OSA in 1984, and in 1991 he, along with Thomas F. Deutsch and Richard M. Osgood, received OSA’s R. W. Wood Prize “for the invention of laser photochemical deposition and the application of laser induced photochemical reactions to materials processing.”
