Bahram Jalali
Bahram Jalali received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Columbia University in 1989 and was with Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey until 2002. Today, he is the Northrop-Grumman Optoelectronics Chair Professor of electrical Engineering at the University of California Los Angeles with joint appointments in the Biomedical Engineering Department, California NanoSystems Institute, and the UCLA School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery.
He is a Fellow of IEEE, OSA, and the American Physical Society (APS). He is the recipient of the R.W. Wood Prize from OSA “for the invention and demonstration of Raman lasing in silicon.” He has published over 300 papers and holds 9 patents.
