Dr. Olivia Wheeler-Williams joined Edmund Optics as an Ultrafast Laser Optics Engineer in December 2021. In this role, she guides customers through specifying the correct optical components for their ultrafast laser systems. Olivia uses her expertise in ultrafast applications to guide new product and technology developments at EO, including enhanced manufacturing and metrology capabilities.

After successfully completing her BS in Chemistry at the University of Virginia in 2015 as a first-generation college student, Olivia continued her academic career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2020, she obtained her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, specializing in ultrafast spectroscopy and microscopy. Before coming to Edmund Optics, Olivia worked as a post-doctoral research associate at Purdue University, where she focused on ultrafast instrumentation development.

Throughout her career, Olivia has been a champion of mentorship and advocacy, most recently serving as a mentor for the Optica Innovation School and a site leader for the Edmund Optics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She is passionate about supporting students and researchers through the transition from academia to industry and frequently coaches student groups on professional development. Through this work, Olivia strives to strengthen the ties between academia and industry to promote a more diverse and inclusive optics community.
