Travel and Transportation

Airport

Munich is served by Munich International Airport (MUC), one of Europe’s busiest airports, located about 41 kilometers from Messe München. The airport offers a wide range of international flights and is well-connected to the city via S-Bahn (train) lines S1 and S8, taking just about 40 minutes to reach the city center. Taxis and airport shuttles are also readily available.

Public Transportation

Munich boasts a comprehensive and efficient public transportation system operated by the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). The network includes:

  • U-Bahn (Subway): The easiest and fastest way to get around the city, with multiple lines serving key attractions and districts.
  • S-Bahn (Suburban Trains): Ideal for traveling to areas outside the city center, including the airport and nearby towns.
  • Trams: A scenic and comfortable way to explore the city, especially in the central areas.
  • Buses: A reliable option for reaching destinations not covered by trains or trams.

Tickets for public transport are available in single-ride, day-pass, and multi-day options, and can be purchased at stations or via the MVV app.

Taxis and Ride-Sharing:
Taxis are widely available throughout Munich, and ride-sharing services like Uber operate in the city. While convenient, taxis can be more expensive than public transportation.
