About the Speaker
As CEO and president of TOPTICA Photonics, Inc. – a world-leading solutions provider and enabler for research and industry – Mark Tolbert has cultivated a team and culture that produced, on average, double digit growth year-over-year for over nearly two decades.
Through Mark’s leadership, TOPTICA has pushed advances in scientific research and has successfully commercialized cutting edge technology for OEM applications. TOPTICA received industry recognition for product design innovation (SPIE Prism Award) for manufacturing the TOPO, a widely tunable high-power continuous wave OPO laser system.
Prior to TOPTICA and after receiving his degree in Physics from RIT Mark has led a path of innovation and technical creativity in telecom, nanotechnology, biophotonics, semiconductor and quantum industries.
As a stakeholder for enabling technologies in the quantum field, Mark is a contributor to most quantum initiatives in North America, including DOE and NSF centers and is a stakeholder on the NQI bill. He was an active participant in the founding of QED-C. Mark is currently on the board of several startups, advisor to several incubators and tech hub, on the steering committee of the National Photonics Initiative and a member of SITAC with the Department of Commerce.
His passion for the industry has propelled him to develop connections and insights on a global level. Mark is a proud advocate for the funding and workforce development needs related to STEM fields, and TOPTICA continues to support those efforts via community outreach, political advocacy, and supporting education.
