Frank Levinson is a technologist with experience in fiber optic components, communication networks, optical sensing, and various parts of “clean tech.” He serves on several corporate boards and is an active venture investor. Frank is the inventor on more than 40 patents in the areas of networking, optical communications, and optical components.

Experience

Board member, Compensation Committee Chair, Fabrinet Corporation, 2010 

Frank serves on Fabrinet (NYSE: FN) board of directors; Fabrinet is the leading contract manufacturer for many of the world’s largest and most successful photonics companies.

General Partner, Convertent Ventures, 2021 

He is a Managing General Partner with Convergent Ventures and has been active as a venture capitalist since 2008. During his tenures with Convergent Ventures, Phoenix Ventures, and Small World Group. He is currently active on several startup boards in the area of photonics.

Founder, CTO, Chairman, Finisar Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA – 1988 - 2008

Finisar was a world-leading maker of fiber optic components and subsystems, selling to customers in data and telecommunications. Levinson founded and grew the company by self-funding from 1988 to its IPO in 1999, serving as CTO and chairman. II-VI Corporation acquired Finisar (Now Coherent: COHR) in 2019.
