IT Support Specialist
Optica is looking for a IT Support Specialist.
Provides technical support to end-users for hardware and software needs; responds to questions/problems of staff about IT support issues. Administers network user accounts and provides IT orientations to new users. Installs and maintains information technology hardware and software, including Windows PCs, Macs, servers, copiers, printers, smart devices, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and audio-visual equipment. Manages and maintains an accurate inventory of software applications and desktop systems hardware. This job also requires lifting equipment (35-50 lbs.). If there are enough tasks and projects to work remotely, there is an option for up to two days per week of telecommuting for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Timely arrival at Optica HQ between 08:30-17:00 or other times as assigned by management
- Travels to support off-site meetings as directed
- Provides computer configuration and setup of operating systems, services, and applications for workstations and laptops, including administering baseline software configurations for each department
- Maintains hardware and end-user software inventories, including licensing and preparing reports
- Coordinates and conducts new user orientations on software applications and telephone/voice mail systems
- Works independently to resolve tasks, including but not limited to end-user system issues, integration, backup administration, help desk tickets, and inventory
- Monitors and responds to Optica staff IT requests and provides routine support and assistance, including handling software and hardware questions, issues, or problems. Directs inquiries to appropriate resources if not able to resolve issues or problems. Keeps customers informed about the status of problem-resolution efforts
- Administers user accounts within Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Azure Entra for users on network and phone systems
- Administers Microsoft security updates for workstations and laptops using the current patch management solution and deploys other patches and updates as needed and/or directed
- Provides IT/AV/Hybrid equipment administration, setup, and support for on-site and off-site Optica conferences and meetings as directed
- Performs preventive maintenance of computer equipment, printers, etc. Contact repair service vendors for support when necessary and coordinate the repairs
- Provides installation, upgrades, and support to maintain the functioning of Optica specialized software, including but not limited to Commvault, Zoom, Symantec Endpoint, and others
- Responsible for safeguarding mission-critical, sensitive, and confidential systems information. Ensures a high level of internal control by establishing and monitoring security for access to data and the related system controls
Secondary Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains detailed documentation on new and existing technologies and applications
- Administers phishing campaigns and security awareness training
- Coordinates and conducts staff training sessions on relevant topics
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least one year's experience supporting PC hardware and software in a corporate network environment
- Zoom administration and technical support
